Lights
- Red Light (when charging): slowly flashing red means charging; solid red means fully charged.
- Blue Light (when speaker is on): flashing blue means pairing mode; solid blue means connected. It also turns solid blue when a 3.5mm cable is plugged into the AUX IN jack.
- White/Orange Light: lit when this is the second speaker connected in OontZ Dual Speaker mode.
Play Horizontally or Vertically
The speaker can be placed vertically (controls on top) or horizontally (controls on side).
- It has its own grille and a passive bass radiator that faces bass away from the dual precision stereo drivers, so the rich bass does not interfere with the mids and highs.
Turning On & Off
- To turn on: press and release the Power button. The Red Light turns on and then turns off after 3 seconds if playing from battery power.
- To turn off: press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds; the Blue Light turns off.
- Flashing blue means the speaker is on and in pairing mode; solid blue means it has connected to a device and is ready to play.
Pairing & Connecting
The OontZ Angle 3 can be connected to one device at a time and will automatically reconnect to the last device it was connected to when turned on and in range.
- On your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on.
- Select 'OontZ Angle 3 DS xxx' under DEVICES (xxx is 3 characters unique to your speaker).
- The Blue Light turns solid blue, a quiet chime plays, and you can play audio wirelessly.
To pair a different device, first disconnect the current one by holding the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds until the Blue Light flashes.
Your device must be within 100 unobstructed feet; move closer if you have trouble connecting. The speaker will not connect when the charge is too low.
Amazon Echo devices do not auto-reconnect; pair via the Alexa app, then say 'Alexa, connect my speaker' to reconnect.
AUX / 3.5mm Audio Cable
To play non-Bluetooth audio sources, use a 3.5mm audio cable.
- Plug one end into the AUX IN jack on the back of the speaker.
- Plug the other end into the headphone jack of your laptop, computer, or non-Bluetooth device, fully inserting both ends.
Important: Bluetooth is disabled while a 3.5mm cable is connected. Remove the cable to use Bluetooth.
Note: When the rubber flap is open for the cable, the speaker is not water resistant.
Battery & Charging
The rechargeable battery ships with a partial charge so the speaker is ready to play. For maximum playtime, fully charge it. You can play while charging.
- Insert the small end of the USB Type-C cable into the speaker's charging connector.
- Insert the larger end into a UL-listed USB wall charger (5V, 3.0A max) or a computer USB port.
- Up to 5 hours to fully charge a low battery.
- When charge drops below 15%, the Red Light flashes rapidly and volume decreases to preserve charge.
On battery power, the speaker turns off after 15 minutes of no audio. When plugged into a charging source it stays on until you power it off. (Exception: connected to Amazon Echo devices, the power-saving feature is disabled.)
Waterproofing (IPX5)
The OontZ Angle 3 is IPX5 water resistant. It can resist gentle water spray and splash but cannot be partially or fully submerged or left in a wet environment for an extended period, any of which could cause unrepairable damage.
- DO NOT allow the speaker to sit in water.
- DO NOT submerge the speaker fully or partially.
- Gentle water spray or splash is okay.
- The rubber flap must be closed to keep the speaker water resistant and dustproof.
Safety: When plugged into a charging source with the USB Type-C cable, never use the speaker in the shower, bath, or near water, to prevent risk of electric shock. When charging or using a 3.5mm cable, keep the speaker away from water.
Wireless Hands-Free Speakerphone
The speakerphone feature works over Bluetooth with smartphones and iPhones only; it is not supported when connected to PCs, laptops, Apple Mac, or other device types.
- To answer or end a call: press and release the Bluetooth button.
- To reject an incoming call: press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds.
- Keep the speaker close in front of you so you can be heard clearly.
- You can use your phone to switch between hands-free speakerphone and the phone itself.
OontZ Dual Speaker (Stereo & Dual Mode)
With a second OontZ Angle 3 (sold separately) you can play music wirelessly through both speakers up to 66 feet apart.
- Turn on both speakers.
- Pair and connect one speaker to your device (solid blue); this becomes the Play Control Speaker.
- The second speaker must not be connected to any device; its Blue Light must be flashing. If solid blue, disconnect it by holding the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds.
- On the Play Control Speaker, hold the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds until it says 'Dual Pairing'.
- After a few seconds it says 'Left Channel' and the second speaker says 'Right Channel' (its light turns solid white). The speakers are now connected for stereo separation.
Use the Play Control Speaker's buttons and Bluetooth/AUX connection; these controls are disabled on the second speaker while paired. Speakerphone call audio plays only through the Play Control Speaker.
Dual Mode: Use Dual Mode to place the two speakers in different areas playing the same music. With the speakers connected for Left Channel - Right Channel, quickly press the Bluetooth button twice on the Play Control Speaker; the second speaker light turns solid orange and both say 'Dual Mode'. To return to Left/Right, press the Bluetooth button twice again (light returns to solid white).
Playing video audio in Dual Speaker mode is not recommended, as it causes the audio and video to play out of sync.
To disconnect the two speakers, with both turned on, hold the Play/Pause button on the Play Control Speaker for 3 seconds.
Resetting
- Step 1: Remove the USB Type-C charging cable and 3.5mm audio cable, if connected.
- Step 2: Press and hold the Power button and the Bluetooth button together for 1 second, then release.
- Step 3: The speaker has now been reset and you can turn it on.
Safety & Precautions
- When plugged into a charging source with the USB Type-C cable, never use the speaker in the shower, bath, or near water, to prevent risk of electric shock.
- Read and follow all instructions.
- Protect the USB Type-C charging cable from being pinched, particularly at the connectors. Unplug it during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
- Do not place the speaker near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, or amplifiers, or near naked flames such as lighted candles.
- Do not expose the speaker to excessive heat (e.g., direct sunlight or fire).
- The battery is not replaceable; do not attempt to change it. If it leaks, avoid skin and eye contact and seek medical advice if contact occurs.
- Use only an agency-approved power supply that meets local regulatory requirements (UL, CSA, VDE, CCC).
- Do not make alterations to the speaker. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I put the speaker in pairing mode?
Turn it on with the Power button; a flashing blue light means it is in pairing mode and ready to connect. If it is already connected to a device, hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds to disconnect and return to pairing.
Is the OontZ Angle 3 (Gen 4) waterproof?
It is IPX5 water resistant, not waterproof. It can resist gentle spray and splash but must not be submerged or left in a wet environment, which could cause unrepairable damage. Keep the rubber flap closed.
How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?
Up to 14 hours of playtime on a full charge at 2/3 volume; louder volumes reduce playtime. A low battery takes up to 5 hours to fully charge over USB Type-C (5V, 3.0A max).
How do I pair two speakers together for stereo?
Turn on both speakers and connect one to your device (this becomes the Play Control Speaker). Make sure the second speaker's light is flashing. On the Play Control Speaker, hold Play/Pause for 3 seconds until it says 'Dual Pairing'; it will announce 'Left Channel' and the second speaker 'Right Channel'.
What is Dual Mode and how do I use it?
Dual Mode plays the same music through both speakers placed in different areas. First connect the speakers for Left Channel - Right Channel, then quickly press the Bluetooth button twice on the Play Control Speaker. Both will say 'Dual Mode' and the second speaker light turns orange. Press twice again to return to Left/Right channels.
How do I reset the speaker?
Disconnect any charging or audio cables, then press and hold the Power button and the Bluetooth button together for 1 second and release. The speaker is reset and can be turned back on.
Why won't my device connect to the speaker?
Make sure your device is within 100 unobstructed feet and move it closer if needed. The speaker will not connect when its charge is too low, so charge it. Also confirm no 3.5mm cable is plugged in, since that disables Bluetooth.
Can I use the speaker as a speakerphone?
Yes, over Bluetooth with smartphones and iPhones only (not PCs, laptops, or Apple Mac). Press and release the Bluetooth button to answer or end a call, or hold it for 3 seconds to reject a call. In dual-speaker setups, speakerphone audio plays only through the Play Control Speaker.
Can I stand the speaker upright?
Yes. The OontZ Angle 3 can be played vertically with the controls on top, or horizontally with the controls on the side.
