Buttons & Controls

The Power button turns the speaker on and off and also activates Siri.

The Play/Pause button (Bluetooth dual function) plays or pauses your audio when pressed and released.

Track Forward: press and release to skip to the next track.

Track Back: press and release to go to the beginning of the current track; press and release twice to go to the previous track.

  • Volume Up: press to increase volume
  • Volume Down: press to decrease volume

Important: The volume control on your device and on the speaker work independently. For the loudest output, set both your device and the speaker to maximum volume.

Note: Some apps may not support track back, track forward, or play/pause.

Lights

Power Light (when charging):

  • Slowly flashing red: battery is charging
  • Solid red: battery is fully charged

Bluetooth Light (when the speaker is on):

  • Flashing blue: speaker is in pairing mode
  • Solid blue: speaker is connected
  • Solid green: a 3.5mm audio cable is plugged into the AUX IN jack
  • White light: speaker is in Dual Speaker Mode
  • Orange light: speaker is in Surround Mode

When the battery charge drops below 15%, the Power button light flashes red rapidly and the volume decreases to preserve the remaining charge.

Connectors

The AUX IN jack and USB Type-C charging connector are located under a rubber flap, along with the built-in mic for speakerphone and Siri.

Pull the rubber flap gently from the top to access the connectors; it is a snug fit to provide water resistance.

Important: The rubber flap must be closed to keep the speaker water resistant and dustproof.

Turning On & Off

To turn on: press and release the Power button. The Power light turns red for 3 seconds then turns off, and the Bluetooth light turns blue.

To turn off: press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds until the Bluetooth light turns off.

Battery & Charging

The rechargeable battery comes with a partial charge and is ready to play out of the box. For maximum playtime, fully charge the battery. You can play while charging.

Insert the small end of the USB Type-C charging cable into the charging connector and the larger end into a UL-listed 5V/3A maximum USB wall charger.

Power Saving Feature: On battery power, the speaker turns off after 30 minutes of no audio to conserve charge. When plugged into a charging source it stays on until you turn it off.

Note: Certain devices (including Amazon Echo Input, Echo Dot, and Echo) disable the Power Saving Feature, so the speaker remains on until you power it off.

Important: When plugged into a charging source, never use the speaker in the shower, bath, or near water to prevent risk of electric shock.

Pairing & Connecting

Turn on the speaker. A flashing blue Bluetooth light means it is ready to pair and connect; solid blue means a device has connected.

On your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is on, and select 'OontZ Angle 3U SS xxx' (xxx is 3 characters unique to your speaker). The Bluetooth light turns solid blue with a quiet chime when connected.

The speaker connects to one device at a time and lets the last connected device reconnect automatically when in range.

To connect a different device, first disconnect the current one by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds until the light flashes blue.

Your device must be within 100 unobstructed feet to pair. For Amazon Echo, first-time pairing uses the Alexa app, and you reconnect by saying 'Alexa, connect my speaker'.

Hands-Free Speakerphone & Siri

To talk to Siri, press and release the Power button once. The Bluetooth light flashes green 3 times; wait about two seconds for a chime, then speak into the mic. Your iPhone or iPad must run the latest iOS.

The wireless hands-free speakerphone works over Bluetooth with smartphones and iPhones only.

  • Answer or end a call: press and release the Bluetooth button
  • Keep the speaker close in front of you so you can be heard clearly

When two speakers are paired in Dual or Surround Mode, calls come through the Host Speaker.

Using a 3.5mm Audio Cable

Plug one end of the included 3.5mm stereo audio cable into the speaker's AUX IN jack and the other end into your device's headphone jack. The Bluetooth light turns solid green and you are ready to play.

Make sure both ends of the cable are fully inserted.

Important: Bluetooth is disabled while the 3.5mm cable is connected. Remove the cable to use a Bluetooth device.

The rubber flap must be closed before exposing the speaker to water.

Dual Mode (Two Speakers)

Connect two OontZ Angle 3 Ultra speakers to play Left Channel - Right Channel for stereo separation, or Dual Stereo for full stereo in separate areas, up to 100 feet apart.

Turn on both speakers and pair one with your device; this becomes the Host Speaker (solid blue light). The second speaker must be unconnected with its light flashing.

On the Host Speaker, press and hold Play/Pause for 3 seconds until the light flashes white and it says 'Dual Pairing'. After a few seconds both lights are solid white; the Host says 'Left Channel' and the second says 'Right Channel'.

To switch to Dual Stereo, press and hold Track Forward on the Host Speaker for 3 seconds until both say 'Dual Stereo'. Press and hold Track Forward again to return to Left/Right Channel.

To disconnect, press and hold Play/Pause on the Host Speaker for 3 seconds; the white lights turn off.

Note: The 4th Generation Ultra is not compatible with previous Ultra generations.

Surround Mode (2, 3 or 4 Speakers)

Connect 2, 3, or 4 OontZ Angle 3 Ultra speakers to play together up to 100 feet apart, all in full stereo.

Connect one speaker to your device or AUX In to make it the Host Speaker. Other speakers (Guests) must be unconnected with flashing blue lights.

On the Host Speaker, press and release the Bluetooth button; its light turns solid orange and it says 'Surround Mode Transmit'. On each Guest Speaker, press and release the Bluetooth button; the light flashes orange and it says 'Surround Mode Receive', then turns solid orange when connected.

Turning off the Host turns off all speakers. To disconnect a single Guest, press and release its Bluetooth button.

Resetting

  • Step 1: Remove the USB Type-C charging cable and 3.5mm audio cable if connected.
  • Step 2: Press and hold the Power button and the Track Forward button together for about 2 seconds until the white and green lights come on together and then turn off, then release the Power button.
  • Step 3: The speaker is now reset and you can turn it on.

Safety & Precautions

When the speaker is plugged into a charging source, never use it in the shower, bath, or near water to prevent risk of electric shock.

  • Protect the USB Type-C charging cable from being pinched, particularly at the connectors.
  • Unplug the charging cable during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Keep the speaker away from heat sources such as radiators, stoves, and amplifiers.
  • Do not make alterations to the speaker; refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • The battery is not replaceable; do not attempt to change it.
  • Use only a UL-listed, agency-approved power supply.
  • Keep away from naked flame sources such as lighted candles.
  • If the battery leaks, avoid contact with skin or eyes; seek medical advice if contact is made.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I put the speaker in pairing mode?

Turn the speaker on with the Power button. The Bluetooth light flashes blue, which means it is ready to pair. Select 'OontZ Angle 3U SS xxx' in your device's Bluetooth settings. If a device is already connected (solid blue light), press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds first to disconnect it.

How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?

The battery plays up to 20 hours on a full charge at 2/3 volume (louder volumes reduce this). A low battery takes up to 7 hours to fully charge using a UL-listed 5V/3A USB wall charger.

Why did my speaker turn off by itself?

The Power Saving Feature turns the speaker off after 30 minutes of no audio when running on battery power. Plug it into a charging source to keep it on, or note that connecting to certain Amazon Echo devices disables this feature.

Can I use the speaker in the shower or pool?

Yes. It is IPX7 certified and can handle splashes or full submersion up to 3 feet deep for up to 30 minutes, as long as the rubber flap is closed. Never use it near water while it is plugged in to charge.

How do I connect a non-Bluetooth device?

Plug the included 3.5mm stereo audio cable into the speaker's AUX IN jack and into your device's headphone jack. The Bluetooth light turns solid green. Bluetooth is disabled while the cable is connected, so remove it to use Bluetooth again.

How do I connect two speakers together?

Turn on both speakers and pair one with your device (this is the Host). With the second speaker's light flashing, press and hold Play/Pause on the Host for 3 seconds until you hear 'Dual Pairing'. The speakers will set up as Left and Right channels.

How do I reset the speaker?

Remove any charging or audio cables, then press and hold the Power button and Track Forward button together for about 2 seconds until the white and green lights turn on and then off. Release the Power button and turn the speaker back on.

Why won't my device connect?

Make sure your device is within 100 unobstructed feet and move it closer if needed. If the charge is too low (flashing red light), the speaker cannot connect until you charge it.

How do I use the speakerphone?

The hands-free speakerphone works over Bluetooth with iPhones and smartphones only. To answer or end a call, press and release the Bluetooth button, and keep the speaker close in front of you.
