Buttons & Controls

Controls are on the top of the speaker:

  • Power: turns the speaker on/off.
  • Mode: switches the playback source (Bluetooth, TF/SD card, USB flash drive, AUX).
  • Play/Pause: press and release to pause or play.
  • Volume Up / Next Track: press to increase the volume; press and hold for 2 seconds for the next track.
  • Volume Down / Previous Track: press to decrease the volume; press and hold for 2 seconds for the previous track.
  • Light: toggles the speaker's light.
  • Bluetooth / Dual Pairing: used for pairing and for connecting a second speaker.

Important: Some apps may not support track back, track forward, or play/pause.

Lights

Power Light:

  • Slowly flashing red: battery is charging
  • All lights lit: battery is fully charged

Bluetooth Light (when the speaker is on):

  • Flashing blue: ready to pair and connect
  • Solid blue: connected and ready to play

White Light: lit when the speaker is in OontZ Wireless Dual Stereo.

Connectors

Connectors are on the back of the speaker behind a connector flap:

  • USB flash drive / USB Power Bank (5V/1A): keeps a smartphone or iPhone charged while playing.
  • TF (microSD) card slot.
  • AUX IN jack: for the 3.5mm audio cable.
  • USB Type-C charging port.

To open the flap, pull gently from the top (a snug fit for water resistance); to close, raise it into position and press gently to seal. The connector flap must be closed to keep the speaker waterproof.

Turning On & Off

  • To turn on: press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds.
  • To turn off: press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds.

Pairing & Connecting

Turn on the speaker so the blue light is flashing. Your device must be within 100 unobstructed feet. If the charge is too low, the device cannot connect until you plug in the power adapter to charge.

  • On an iPhone, iPad, iPod, smartphone, or tablet: go to the Bluetooth settings and select 'OontZ Angle 3XL'. The light turns solid blue when connected.

The speaker connects to one device at a time and auto-reconnects to the last device when turned on and in range (Amazon Echo devices will not auto-reconnect).

To switch devices, disconnect the current one by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button for 1 second until the blue light flashes.

For Apple Mac or Windows computer pairing, visit TheOontZ.com/pairing.

Amazon Echo / Echo Dot: pair the first time via the Alexa app and select 'OontZ Angle 3XL' for the Bluetooth device. Next time, turn on the speaker and say 'Alexa, connect my speaker' or 'Alexa, pair'.

Battery & Charging

The rechargeable battery comes partially charged and is ready to play; fully charge it for maximum playtime. You can play while charging. The battery is not replaceable.

  • Plug the USB Type-C charging cable into the Type-C connector on the speaker and the other end into a USB power adapter.
  • Plug the USB power adapter into a wall outlet.
  • Charging takes up to 4 hours for a low battery.

Power Saving: on battery power the speaker turns off after 30 minutes of no audio. With the power adapter connected and plugged in, it stays on until you power it off. Exception: when connected to certain devices including the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot, the power-saving feature is disabled.

Water Resistance (IPX6)

The OontZ Angle 3XL Gen 2 is IPX6 water resistant. It can withstand high-pressure, heavy sprays of water from any direction, but it is not submersible and cannot survive being dropped into a pool or used while swimming, any of which could cause unrepairable damage.

  • Do not allow the speaker to sit in water.
  • Do not allow the speaker to submerge fully or partially in water.
  • The connector flap must be closed to keep the speaker water resistant and dustproof. When charging or using the 3.5mm cable, keep the speaker away from water.

Safety: When charging and plugged into a wall outlet, do not use the speaker in the shower, bath, rain, or near water. Always unplug the charging cable from the speaker and close the rubber flap with a tight seal when the speaker is exposed to water or rain.

OontZ Wireless Dual Speakers

With a second OontZ Angle 3XL Gen 2 (sold separately) you can play music wirelessly through both speakers up to 100 feet apart. Walls, obstructions, or placing speakers on the ground significantly reduce the distance.

To connect the two speakers:

  • Turn on both speakers.
  • Pair and connect one speaker to your device (solid blue light); this is the Play Control Speaker.
  • Ensure the second speaker is flashing blue (not connected); if it has a solid blue light, hold its Bluetooth button for 1 second to disconnect.
  • On the Play Control Speaker, press and hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds until a flashing white light appears. It then connects to the second speaker.

The Play Control Speaker handles all play controls, Bluetooth/AUX IN connections, and microphone audio; these are disabled on the second speaker while paired.

Turning off the Play Control Speaker turns both off; turning off the second speaker first leaves the Play Control Speaker playing as a single speaker.

To disconnect the two speakers: with both on, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the Play Control Speaker for 2 seconds; the white lights turn off.

Other Functions & Playback Methods

Press the Mode button to toggle between Bluetooth, TF/SD card, USB flash drive, and AUX input.

3.5mm AUX:

  • Plug one end of the 3.5mm audio cable into the AUX IN jack.
  • Plug the other end into your device's headphone jack.
  • Make sure both ends are fully inserted.

TF/SD card mode: Insert a card and the speaker plays music automatically.

USB flash drive mode: Insert a USB flash drive and the speaker plays music automatically. Supports MP3, WAV, and FLAC audio formats.

Important: Bluetooth is disabled while playing in these other modes. When the flap is open for the cable, the speaker is not water resistant.

Reset Function

Press and hold the Play/Pause button for 8 seconds to reset the speaker. If the reset is successful, the speaker automatically shuts down.

Safety & Precautions

  • When the power adapter is connected and plugged in, never use the speaker in the shower, bath, rain, or near water. Always unplug the adapter before the speaker is exposed to water.
  • Protect the charging cable from being pinched, especially at the connectors, and unplug it during lightning storms or long periods of disuse.
  • Keep the speaker away from heat sources such as radiators, stoves, and amplifiers, and out of direct sunlight or fire.
  • Do not place near naked flames such as lighted candles.
  • Do not make unauthorized alterations; refer all servicing to qualified personnel and do not use the speaker if damaged.
  • Use only an agency-approved USB power adapter meeting local regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CSA, VDE, CCC).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the OontZ Angle 3XL (Gen 2) waterproof?

It is IPX6 water resistant. It can withstand high-pressure, heavy sprays of water from any direction, but it is not submersible and cannot survive being dropped into a pool or used while swimming. Keep the connector flap closed for water and dust resistance.

How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?

Up to 10 hours of playtime on a full charge at 2/3 volume, and up to 4 hours to fully charge a low battery. Louder volumes reduce playtime.

Can I replace the battery?

No. The 3XL (Gen 2) has an integrated lithium-ion battery that is not replaceable.

How do I reset the speaker?

Press and hold the Play/Pause button for 8 seconds to reset the speaker. If the reset is successful, the speaker automatically shuts down.

How do I pair two 3XL (Gen 2) speakers together?

With a second OontZ Angle 3XL Gen 2 (sold separately) you can play wirelessly through both speakers up to 100 feet apart. Connect one speaker to your device (the Play Control Speaker), make sure the second is flashing blue, then press and hold the Bluetooth button on the Play Control Speaker for 2 seconds until a flashing white light appears and it connects to the second speaker.

Can I charge my phone from the speaker?

Yes. The Angle 3XL (Gen 2) has a USB power-bank output (5V/1A) on the back to keep a smartphone or iPhone charged while playing.

Why won't my device connect over Bluetooth?

Make sure the speaker is flashing blue, within 100 unobstructed feet, and charged. A flashing red light means the charge is too low; plug in to charge. To switch devices, hold the Bluetooth button for 1 second to disconnect the current one first.

Can I use a wired audio source?

Yes. Use the Mode button to switch the source to the 3.5mm AUX IN jack. You can also play audio from a TF/SD card or a USB flash drive (MP3, WAV, and FLAC). Bluetooth is disabled in these modes.
