Charging the Case & Earbuds
The BudZ ship in the case with a partial charge and are ready to play. For maximum playtime, fully charge the case with both BudZ inside.
To charge the case:
- Insert the small end of the USB Type-C cable into the case's charging connector.
- Insert the larger end into a UL-listed USB wall charger (5V 1A minimum).
To charge the BudZ, place both BudZ in the case (Left in the left side, Right in the right side). A solid red light means a BudZ is charging; the red light off means it is fully charged. Make sure each earbud touches the charging pins inside the case.
When fully charged, the case provides up to 4 additional full charges of the BudZ.
Case Charge Indicator Lights
The case has four lights that show its charge level. While the case is charging:
- 0-25%: 1st light blinks red
- 26-50%: 1st light solid red, 2nd light blinks red
- 51-75%: first two lights solid red, 3rd light blinks red
- 76-100%: first three lights solid red, 4th light blinks red
- Fully charged: all 4 lights solid red
On battery power (not plugged in), opening or closing the case lights the lights red for 20 seconds to show remaining battery: 1 light (0-25%), 2 lights (26-50%), 3 lights (51-75%), or all 4 lights (76-100%).
Battery Features
- Play time with Quiet Mode on: up to 5 hours on a full charge at 2/3 volume.
- Play time with Sound Passthrough Mode on: up to 6 hours on a full charge at 2/3 volume.
- Charging time: up to 1 hour for low BudZ, up to 2 hours for a low case battery.
- Low charge: when BudZ charge drops below 20%, a 'Low Battery, Please Charge' voice prompt plays.
Louder volumes reduce playtime.
Turning On, Off & Single-Earbud (Mono) Use
Turn ON using both BudZ: remove both BudZ from the case. They turn on automatically, connect to each other, and announce 'Pairing'. The BudZ must be within 3 feet of each other to connect and stay connected.
Turn ON using only one BudZ: remove just the Left or Right BudZ from the case. It turns on automatically and announces 'Pairing'. One BudZ can be used while the other charges in the case.
Turn OFF: place the BudZ in the case and fully close it. When placing the earbuds inside, make sure they touch the charging pins.
Pairing Your Device
Turn on the BudZ. A flashing blue light means they are ready to pair. If the BudZ are in your ears when they turn on, you hear 'Hello', then 'Pairing' when ready to connect.
To pair:
- On your phone, tablet, or computer, go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on.
- Select 'OontZTWBudZULTRA' under Devices.
- Your device connects in a few seconds. If the BudZ are in your ears, a 'Connected' voice prompt confirms the connection, and you can play audio wirelessly.
The BudZ connect to one device at a time and reconnect to the last paired device when removed from the case (within range). To disconnect, go to Settings > Bluetooth on your device, select the info symbol next to 'OontZTWBudZULTRA', then choose Disconnect/Forget This Device (iOS) or Unpair (Android).

Selecting the Best Comfort Cushions
A snug, comfortable fit provides the best sound and bass. Start with the medium (M) comfort cushions that come installed. If they do not feel secure, try the large (L) cushions. The largest comfortable size gives the best overall sound. Slide a cushion onto each BudZ, lining up the hole of the cushion with the hole on the BudZ, then insert the Left and Right BudZ into your ear canals.
Quiet Mode, Sound Passthrough Mode & Play/Pause
Quiet Mode uses active noise cancellation to block out external background noise. Press and hold the multi-function touch button for 2 seconds on either BudZ; a 'Quiet Mode' voice prompt confirms it is active.
Sound Passthrough Mode lets external sounds pass through so you can hear the world around you. Press and hold the multi-function touch button for 2 seconds on either BudZ; a 'Sound Passthrough Mode' voice prompt confirms it is active.
Play/Pause: press and release the multi-function touch button on either BudZ. The volume is controlled on your device.
Talk to Siri & Phone Calls
Talk to Siri (works when connected to an iPhone or iPad over Bluetooth, on the latest iOS):
- Press and release the multi-function touch button 2 times on either BudZ.
- Wait about two seconds until you hear a chime, then say what you need. Siri responds through the BudZ and may display information on your device.
Phone calls (works over Bluetooth with smartphones and iPhones only):
- Answer a call: press and release the multi-function touch button on either BudZ.
- Reject a call: press and hold the multi-function touch button for 3 seconds on either BudZ.
- Hang up a call: press and hold the multi-function touch button for 3 seconds on either BudZ during a connected call.
You can use your phone to switch between hands-free speakerphone and the phone itself.
IPX5 Water Resistant
The OontZ True Wireless BudZ Ultra are water-resistant and sweatproof, ideal for exercise, the beach, or the pool. IPX5 means they can handle sweat, water spray, and splashes, but cannot be partially or fully submerged or left in a wet environment for an extended period, which could cause unrepairable water damage.
Important: when the BudZ are charging in the case via the USB Type-C cable, keep the BudZ and case away from the shower, bath, or water to prevent the risk of electric shock.
Safety & Precautions
- Avoid listening at excessive volume levels or for prolonged periods.
- Never use the BudZ or case in the shower, bath, or near water while the charging cable is plugged in to a power source.
- Protect the USB Type-C cable from being pinched, particularly at the connectors.
- Unplug the cable during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
- Keep the BudZ and case away from heat sources, naked flames, excessive heat, and direct sunlight.
- The battery is not replaceable; do not attempt to change it.
- If the battery leaks, avoid contact with skin and eyes and seek medical advice if contact occurs.
