Buttons & Controls

The Power button turns the speaker on and off.

The Play/Pause button (Bluetooth dual function) plays or pauses audio; the Press-to-Talk button activates Alexa.

Track Forward / Track Back: press and release to skip to the next track; hold for 1 second and release to go to the previous track.

  • Volume Up: press to increase volume
  • Volume Down: press to decrease volume

Important: The volume control on your device and on the speaker work independently. For the loudest output, set both to maximum. Some apps may not support track back, forward, or play/pause.

Lights

Red Light (when charging):

  • Slowly flashing red: battery is charging
  • Solid red: battery is fully charged
  • Rapidly flashing red while playing: battery charge is low

Blue Light (when speaker is on):

  • Flashing blue: speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode
  • Solid blue: speaker is connected
  • Solid green: a 3.5mm audio cable is plugged into the AUX IN jack

Attaching the Lanyard

  • Slide the smaller lanyard loop through one of the lanyard attachment holes at the top of the speaker.
  • Slide the larger lanyard loop through the smaller loop that has passed through the attachment hole.
  • Pull the larger loop completely through the smaller loop to fasten the lanyard.

The lanyard is not for use by children under 6 years of age, as small parts can present a choking hazard.

Connectors & Built-in Mic

The AUX IN jack and USB Type-C charging connector are located under a rubber flap, along with the built-in mic for Alexa, Siri, and speakerphone.

Pull the rubber flap gently from the top to access the connectors; it is a snug fit as part of the waterproofing.

Important: The rubber flap must be closed before exposing the speaker to water; it is not waterproof when the flap is open.

Battery & Charging

The rechargeable battery comes partially charged and is ready to play. For maximum playtime, fully charge it. You can play while charging.

Insert the small end of the Type-C cable into the charging connector (it only inserts one way; do not force it) and the larger end into a UL-listed 5V/1.0A to 5V/2.4A maximum USB wall charger or a laptop USB port. A low battery takes up to 5 hours to fully charge.

When the battery drops below 15%, the Red light flashes rapidly and the volume decreases to preserve charge.

Power Saving Feature: On battery power, the speaker turns off after 30 minutes of no audio. When plugged in it stays on until you turn it off. Certain Amazon Echo devices disable this feature.

Important: When plugged in to charge, never use the speaker in the shower, bath, or near water to prevent risk of electric shock.

Turning On & Off

To turn on: press and release the Power button. The Red light turns on for 3 seconds then off, and the Blue light turns on.

To turn off: press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds; the Blue light turns off.

Pairing & Connecting

Turn on the speaker. Flashing blue means it is ready to pair; solid blue means a device is connected.

On your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth, ensure Bluetooth is on, and select 'OontZAngle3Showerxxx' (xxx is 3 characters unique to your speaker). A quiet chime confirms connection.

The speaker connects to one device at a time and lets the last device reconnect automatically when in range. To switch devices, press and hold the Bluetooth button for 5 seconds to disconnect, then pair the new device.

Your device must be within 100 unobstructed feet. For Amazon Echo, reconnect by saying 'Alexa, connect my speaker'.

Using Amazon Alexa (OontZ App)

Download the OontZ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The Alexa function is only available on an iPhone or a smartphone running Android.

Turn on the speaker and connect it to the device with the OontZ app installed, open the app, tap the grey 'OontZ Angle 3 Shower' speaker icon, select 'Confirm', then choose 'Amazon Alexa Login' and follow the in-app instructions.

With the speaker connected to your phone and the app launched, press and release the Press-to-Talk button and speak to Alexa. You can ask to play music, hear the news, check the weather, control smart-home devices, and more.

For more Alexa features, also install the separate Amazon Alexa app.

Firmware / Speaker Updates

In the OontZ app, select Menu > Device Information to check the current firmware version under 'Main Version'. A red 'New' label appears if an update is available.

Before updating, connect the speaker to a power source via the Type-C cable and wall charger. Press the red 'New' and follow the in-app instructions; keep the phone uninterrupted by calls during the update.

After a successful update the red light turns off; wait about 30 seconds until the red light turns on again before disconnecting the cable or turning the speaker on.

Talk to Siri

This feature works when connected to an iPhone or iPad over Bluetooth.

Press and release the Bluetooth button; the blue light turns green and flashes 3 times. Wait about two seconds for a chime, then speak to Siri through the mic. Your iPhone or iPad must run the latest iOS.

Hands-Free Speakerphone

The wireless hands-free personal speakerphone works over Bluetooth with smartphones and iPhones only.

  • Answer or end a call: press and release the Bluetooth button
  • Reject a call: press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds
  • Keep the speaker close in front of you to be heard clearly

Using a 3.5mm Audio Cable

Plug one end of a 3.5mm stereo audio cable (sold separately) into the AUX IN jack and the other into your device's headphone jack. The Blue light turns solid green and you are ready to play.

Make sure both ends are fully inserted.

Important: Bluetooth (and the Alexa function) is disabled when a 3.5mm audio cable is connected. The rubber flap must be closed before exposing the speaker to water.

IPX7 Waterproof

The speaker is IPX7 certified and can handle water spray from the shower or being splashed, and being partially or fully submerged up to 3 feet deep for up to 30 minutes.

The rubber flap must be closed for the speaker to be waterproof and dustproof.

Important: When plugged in to charge, never use the speaker in the shower, bath, or near water to prevent risk of electric shock.

Resetting

  • Step 1: Remove the Type-C charging cable and 3.5mm audio cable if connected.
  • Step 2: With the speaker off, press and hold the Power button for 8 seconds, then release.
  • Step 3: The speaker is now reset and you can turn it on.

Safety & Precautions

When plugged in to charge, never use the speaker in the shower, bath, or near water to prevent risk of electric shock.

  • Protect the Type-C charging cable from being pinched, particularly at the connectors.
  • Unplug the charging cable during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Keep away from heat sources such as radiators, stoves, and amplifiers.
  • Do not make alterations; refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • The battery is not replaceable; do not attempt to change it.
  • Use only a UL-listed, agency-approved power supply.
  • Keep away from naked flame sources such as lighted candles.
  • If the battery leaks, avoid contact with skin or eyes and seek medical advice if contact is made.
