Note: Some apps may not support track back, track forward, or play/pause.

Important: The volume control on your device and the speaker work independently. For the loudest volume, set your device to maximum and raise the speaker volume to maximum.

Lights

  • Red Light (when charging): the battery is charging or fully charged.
  • Blue Light (when speaker is on): flashing means pairing mode; solid blue means connected.
  • White Light: lit when this is the second speaker connected in OontZ Dual Speaker mode.

Attaching the Lanyard

  • Slide the smaller lanyard loop through one of the lanyard attachment holes at the top of the speaker.
  • Slide the larger lanyard loop through the smaller loop that has passed through the other attachment hole.
  • Pull the larger loop completely through the smaller loop to fasten the lanyard to the speaker.

The lanyard is not for use by children under 6 years of age. Small parts can present a choking hazard.

Turning On & Off

  • To turn on: press and release the Power button. The Blue Light turns on and the speaker enters pairing mode.
  • To turn off: press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds. The Blue Light turns off.
  • When solid blue, your device has connected and the speaker is ready to play.

Pairing & Connecting

When turned on, the speaker is ready to pair and connect. It will automatically reconnect to the last device it was paired with whenever it is turned on and that device is in range.

  • On your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on.
  • Select 'OontZ Angle solo DS xxx' under DEVICES (xxx is 3 characters unique to your speaker).
  • The speaker connects in a few seconds, the light turns solid blue, and a quiet chime plays.

To pair a different device, first disconnect the current one by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds until the light begins flashing.

Your device must be within 80 unobstructed feet. If you have trouble connecting, move the device closer. A flashing red light (low charge) prevents connection.

Amazon Echo devices do not auto-reconnect; pair via the Alexa app, then say 'Alexa, connect my speaker' to reconnect.

Bluetooth Dual Connection

You can wirelessly connect up to 2 smartphones or tablets to the speaker at the same time.

  • When the speaker is turned on, it enters Bluetooth pairing automatically.
  • After Device A connects and plays, double-click the Bluetooth button to re-enter pairing so Device B can find and connect to the speaker. If it does not connect, it exits pairing after 60 seconds.
  • Once both are connected, the audio automatically switches to whichever device you play from.

AUX / 3.5mm Audio Cable

To play with non-Bluetooth devices, use a 3.5mm stereo audio cable.

  • Plug one end into the AUX IN jack on the speaker; the Blue Light turns solid blue.
  • Plug the other end into the headphone jack on your device and make sure both ends are fully inserted.

Important: Bluetooth is disabled while the 3.5mm cable is connected. Remove the cable to use Bluetooth.

Note: When the rubber flap is open for the cable, the speaker is not water resistant.

Battery & Charging

The rechargeable battery ships with a partial charge so the speaker is ready to play. For maximum playtime, fully charge it. You can play while charging.

  • Insert the small end of the Type-C cable into the speaker's charging connector.
  • Insert the large end into a UL-listed USB wall charger (5V, 1.0A max) or a computer USB port.
  • Up to 4 hours to fully charge a low battery.
  • When charge drops below 15%, the Red Light flashes rapidly and volume decreases to preserve charge.

On battery power, the speaker turns off after 15 minutes of no audio to conserve charge. When plugged into a charging source it stays on until you power it off. (Exception: connected to Amazon Echo devices, the power-saving feature is disabled.)

Waterproofing (IPX7)

The OontZ Angle solo is IPX7 certified waterproof.

  • It can handle water spray and splashes and can be partially or fully submerged up to 3 feet deep for up to 30 minutes.
  • The rubber flap must be closed for the speaker to be waterproof and dustproof.

Perfect for the lake, beach, pool, or shower.

Wireless Hands-Free Speakerphone

The speakerphone feature works over Bluetooth with smartphones and iPhones only; it is not supported with other device types.

  • Press and release the Bluetooth button to answer or end a call.
  • Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds to use the hands-free feature.
  • Keep the speaker close in front of you so you can be heard clearly.
  • You can use your phone to switch between hands-free speakerphone and the phone itself.

OontZ Dual Speaker (Stereo Pairing)

With a second OontZ Angle solo (sold separately) you can wirelessly connect both speakers for Left Channel - Right Channel stereo.

  • Turn on both speakers.
  • Pair and connect one speaker to your device (solid blue); this becomes the Play Control Speaker.
  • The second speaker must not be connected to any device; its Blue Light must be flashing. If it is solid blue, disconnect it by holding the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds.
  • On the Play Control Speaker, press and hold the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds until it says 'Dual Pairing'.
  • After a few seconds it says 'Left Channel' and the second speaker says 'Right Channel'. The Play Control Speaker light stays solid blue and the second speaker light turns solid white.

Use the Play Control Speaker's buttons and Bluetooth/AUX connection; the second speaker's Bluetooth and AUX IN are disabled while paired. Dual speaker mode works only over Bluetooth.

Playing video audio in Dual Speaker mode is not recommended, as it causes the audio and video to play out of sync.

To disconnect the two speakers, with both turned on, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the Play Control Speaker for 3 seconds.

Resetting

  • Remove the Type-C charging cable and 3.5mm audio cable, if connected.
  • Press and hold the Power button and the Play/Pause button together for one second, then release both.
  • The speaker has now been reset and you can turn it on.

Safety & Precautions

  • Read and follow all instructions.
  • Protect the Type-C charging cable from being pinched, particularly at the connectors. Unplug it during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Do not place the speaker near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, or amplifiers, or near naked flames such as lighted candles.
  • Do not expose the speaker to excessive heat (e.g., direct sunlight or fire).
  • The battery is not replaceable; do not attempt to change it. If it leaks, avoid skin and eye contact and seek medical advice if contact occurs.
  • Use only an agency-approved power supply that meets local regulatory requirements (UL, CSA, VDE, CCC).
  • Do not make alterations to the speaker. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I put the speaker in pairing mode?

Press and release the Power button to turn it on. The Blue Light turns on and the speaker is automatically in pairing mode, ready to connect. If it is already connected to another device, hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds to disconnect and return to pairing.

Can I connect two phones to one speaker?

Yes. The speaker supports Bluetooth dual connection for up to 2 smartphones or tablets. After the first device connects, double-click the Bluetooth button so the second device can find and connect to the speaker. Audio automatically switches to whichever device you play from.

How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?

Up to 12 hours of playtime on a full charge at 2/3 volume; louder volumes reduce playtime. A low battery takes up to 4 hours to fully charge via the USB Type-C cable.

Is the speaker waterproof?

Yes, it is IPX7 certified. It can handle spray and splashes and can be submerged up to 3 feet deep for up to 30 minutes. The rubber flap must be closed for it to be waterproof and dustproof.

How do I pair two speakers together for stereo?

Turn on both speakers and connect one to your device (this becomes the Play Control Speaker). Make sure the second speaker's light is flashing (not connected). On the Play Control Speaker, hold the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds until it says 'Dual Pairing'; it will announce 'Left Channel' and the second speaker 'Right Channel'.

How do I reset the speaker?

Disconnect any charging or audio cables, then press and hold the Power button and the Play/Pause button together for one second and release. The speaker is reset and can be turned back on.

Why won't my device connect to the speaker?

Make sure your device is within 80 unobstructed feet and move it closer if needed. A flashing red light means the battery is too low to connect, so charge the speaker. Also confirm no 3.5mm cable is plugged in, since that disables Bluetooth.

Why does the speaker keep turning itself off?

On battery power the speaker turns off after 15 minutes of no audio to conserve charge. Keep it plugged into a charging source to stay on, or note that connecting to an Amazon Echo disables this power-saving feature.

Can I use the speaker as a speakerphone?

Yes, over Bluetooth with smartphones and iPhones only. Press and release the Bluetooth button to answer or end a call, and keep the speaker close in front of you to be heard clearly.
